Your copywriting, editing & proofreading questions answered
How does the copywriting process work?
First, get in touch with us by phone or email. We’ll have a chat with you about your copywriting needs. Following this, we’ll provide you with a proposal outlining our fee and confirming the milestones to complete your project. Once your initial retainer payment is received, we’ll provide you with a first draft for your review. Our copywriter will then make any requested changes to your copy and supply the final draft for your approval.
How much does copywriting cost?
The cost of copywriting depends on your needs. For all projects other than tender or proposals, we will give you a quote. Tenders and proposals are charged at an hourly rate.
How much notice do you need to complete my copywriting project?
With our experience, we work quickly so our clients rarely have to wait more than a week for their finished product. But of course, life is unpredictable so it’s best to give us as much notice as you can – especially if it’s a big job.
What is a business copywriter?
A business or corporate copywriter is a professional writer who produces clear and compelling business to business (B2B) marketing and sales materials. This includes words (or copy) for websites, articles, reports, newsletters, proposals, tenders and brochures. Corporate copywriters specialise in transforming often complex information into plain English so that your audience (your readers) find your message easy to understand.
What is a copy editor?
A copy editor’s role is to make sure your document makes sense, is easy to read and flows. The editor keeps your target audience and your company brand in mind to ensure best results. They review the draft of your proposal, tender, direct mail letter, article, brochure or report to improve readability, punctuation and grammar. This may mean changing, adding or deleting words or restructuring sentences or paragraphs to make your documents clearer, more succinct, or more compelling.
What is a proofreader?
A proofreader gives peace of mind that your document has no typographical errors, inconsistencies and mistakes such as chapter headings that vary in font size, different spellings of a person’s name – and often checking information is correct, such as book titles, dates or names.
Proofreaders need enormous concentration, a great memory and extremely close attention to detail. By paying expert attention to detail, proofreaders safeguard against potentially embarrassing or costly mistakes.
What is a tender writer or proposal writer?
A tender writer or proposal writer will write a professional, benefit-focused response to a Request for Proposal or Request for Tender. Working with a professional and experienced tender writer means you will not have to do any of the writing (unless you prefer to do the first draft). To do this, the tender or proposal writer will take time to understand your business and will work with you to determine your response strategy: your key messages and the content your tender response needs.
At Proof Communications, we use your information to write concise and compelling responses to each question included in the tender. Your tender or proposal needs to focus on how your prospective client will benefit from your services and expertise. Retaining a professional tender writer will save you time, and a lot of stress. We also ensure you organise all additional material and attachments to ensure you conform to the tender requirements.
Why should I outsource my writing projects?
Just as you’re an expert in your field, a copywriter, editor or tender writer can quickly and effectively create the words you need to sell yourself, your product or service. By hiring an expert to take care of your corporate writing needs, the work will be completed faster than doing it yourself. It also means you are not adding to your or a colleague’s existing workload.
